About the Business
The SIA latest wide-scale random compliance checks took place across Cambridgeshire, West Midlands, North East England and Scotland on Friday [09 Sept]. SIA investigators inspected 233 security guards, CCTV operatives and door supervisors. 150 sites were visited which included construction sites, hospitals, retail outlets, CCTV suites, museums, offices, pubs and clubs. Knowing how to escort people from premises safely is important to door supervisors, who may have to deal with this type of situation as part of their role. Disengagement skills are also useful if, for example, a customer has grabbed hold of you. The SIA developed physical intervention training that is included in the nationally-recognised door supervisor training. It is a compulsory part of the new qualification introduced last year. In total, 225 operatives held a valid SIA licence, which is a requirement by law.
